wording this goal

To me, “Learn how to gain the respect of others,” is a learning process.

It is a goal open to others’ views, ideas, personalities.

In my opinion, to simply say, “be respected,” seems demanding and doesn’t necessarily have thought behind it. It also seems to not take other people’s views, ideas, personalities seriously.

To learn to gain the respect of others, one must also show respect of others.

To me, learning to understand others and showing them respect is the first step to potentially gaining the respect of others.

Another very important element in learning to gain the respect of others is learning to respect oneself.

I am able to be true to myself, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I am always respectful of myself.

That brings in a whole other topic: self-esteem. Which can be addressed in the process of working on this overall goal.

Peace to all who are working on this goal here at 43things.
