Revisiting Steinbeck

Yeah, right. In high school or sooner, we find out about John Steinbeck.
I loved reading him then, and read more of his works than I was required.

Come to think of it, my dad introduced me to Steinbeck when I was in middle school (aka junior high). He encouraged me to read, "The Pearl." I loved it, and I believe I read "Tortilla Flat" afterwards.

Many other Steinbeck books followed, though not all of them.

There were those required to read. In high school, I had no time for extracurricular reading. No way in college.

Just picked up "Sweet Thursday" a bit ago, and have been thoroughly enjoying every moment of it. With all the time I've had with this book, you'd think I would have finished it already. But no. Other priorities get in the way. No big deal. That's life.

wikipedia has a nice round-up of Steinbeck's books with actual covers.

I'd like to have a Steinbeck reading fest ... not sure it'll happen ... i may stray elsewhere.
