The countdown begins

Mr. F and I are 14 days from jumping off the precipice.

Our journey to this point started months ago.
Maybe years ago. Many dream it.
We ... I should say, "I" want to live it.
Mr. F is being a good sport and going along with me on this adventure.

He's scared.
I'm not. For once.

The decision was made months ago.

For more than a year, we've been giving away or selling as much stuff as we can stand.

What we're keeping is going in storage near Mr. F's family cottage in Indiana.

We sold our home.
We move out officially Dec. 31.

My job ends with the newspaper Jan. 9.
I hoped for a "buyout" offer,
and received one Nov. 14,
along with all full-time employees
with five or more years working with the company
who are not department heads.

Friends are letting us stay with them until we leave Michigan ... Jan. 10?

Everyone's had recent physicals, including our cat, Princess P.
The kittie Zanax prescription has been written, but not yet filled.

The Yakima rooftop storage unit has been found, offer made, but not yet acquired.

Jump date?
Either Jan. 9 or 10.

We pack the car with the bare necessities, including cushy feline-friendly abode and loads of mp3s of our favorite music. Fresh produce.

We're heading south. west.
Away from the snow.
Away from the cold.
Away from sweaters, bulky clothes and muddy, snowy space boots.
Away from societal convention.

Where we end, we don't know.
Jobs?
Don't know.
Something altruistic, I keep believing.

Mr. F and I are jumping off the precipice in 14 days.
I'm excited.

Wow! That's so awesome. I would love to do that too. Unfortunately I lost my job on Christmas Eve, but no buyout that would give me the freedom to do that.

your move
Best to both of you, and congrats for being a pioneer of reinvention. Methinks many of us will be reinventing this year, like it or not! -- Morgan
