The Friday Five

Haven't seen The Friday Five in a long time.

1. What made you happy this week?
Seeeing my mom four times this week, AND seeing her step on the scale and find out that she weighs almost 94 pounds. This is up from the 88/89 pounds she weighed mid-March. Please note, my mom is only 4 feet 11 inches tall. We'd still like to see her closer to 100 pounds.

2. What made you sad?
The same old stuff. But what was really sad -- or maybe this is a good thing -- is that it finally hit me that I've spent all my life trying to keep up with my mother's now former immense energy. When I was a young adult, I had to literally run slightly faster than a quick walk to keep up with my mother's regular walking pace, and I am almost three inches taller than she. My mom was one of those people that always had enough energy to do it all and get it all done. I'm not like that. Most people aren't. Yet I still mourn this fact. To be superwoman would be ideal. Not realistic, but so fantastic.

3. What made you angry?
Several things building up ... like a particular person not keeping up with his responsibilities ... and the other is that I'm working longer and longer hours. My boss tells me I can and should be producing much more than I do ... well, he says this of most of us in the art dept. ... and I'm finding myself working tons of overtime ... much of which I haven't turned in. Our new boss says that I should, but I'm still afraid to do so. If I'm truly slow at producing, than why should the company suffer financially? Even though what I produce is considered very professional; plus I've been told I have excellent journalistic instincts. It's all so confusing ... and I'm tired. How come I'm the only one working overtime? I must be a slow worker. Shit.

4. What are you looking forward to in the next week?
The flip side to the above bitch: I'm looking forward to another creative project, which moi initiated and was assertive in getting editors to take it on, assign a reporter and let me be the creative one.

5. What are you not looking forward to?
Not having enough time to fully accomplish this project to my visionary standards, due to all the other work that will come in during the week.
