Is this fair of me? Yeah, it's my opinion, but is it fair?

CR web site not comprehensive enough:

This may be asking too much of any organization; however, Consumer Reports has been in the business of investigating/researching/testing/et al products and services for decades and should understand in this day of intensely changing technology the need for up-to-the-minute and comprehensive information.

Since I was a child, I've enjoyed reading CR and learning about new products and consumer advice. In fact, I would sit with my dad and watch the TV show.

It's great that CR's website has this WebWatch section. But it's also behind.
Where is the 2004 Top 10 online scams list? Where's a comparison for online DVD renting services? Where's a review of Palm's new LifeDrive? And where's a comparison of it to other PDAs or cellphones or even computers? It's that diverse.

Maybe CR needs to team up with cnet or other reputable companies/websites to get comparisons out there faster.

Last year, my husband and I needed to purchase a new dehumidifier, and went to CR's web site for reviews and comparisons of the latest on the market. The closest we found was an article published in the magazine two years earlier. That's not good enough.

It's wonderful to see CR's article on Wi-Fi safety, a very important issue that needs addressing now as cities begin to launch Wi-Fi umbrellas over their entire regions.

Many of the reasons I listed above are why I am not ready to renew our subscription to CR's website. We'll keep looking to see how fast CR is at updating information/adding new categories. Then we will probably renew our subscription.

Sincerely,

Nancy JonesFrancis

Looks fair to me! I should think that a website of that nature would just run around in circles trying to keep up-to-date. Sort of strikes me as odd that they couldn't manage.

maybe they are so used to doing it the old way, they are struggling with this new speed. since last year, they did add the "webwatch" section, which is good.

they may be working on catching up ... but there could be a lot of people holding them back ... or just the way they tested products could be holding them back.

they need to join forces with other legitimate groups like c-net ... or maybe they are just too stubborn.
