New journal style

Am experimenting with this lj style.

The pros:

It's clean and simple and harkens to my own tastes.

The negatives:

* The archive page is too frilly and hard to read. Needs to be simpler.

I miss:

1) Permalink;

2) A place for all of my favorite links ... like worthy design and philanthropic websites/organizations.

3) The calendar right there.

4) Not always easy to discern between the actual post and the tags ... finding the headline. There needs to be some spacing between these elements.

Some curiosities:

Added a background image, but it looked horrid with that tiling effect. Too distracting.

If there's a way to simply take a narrow portion of that background image and make it the lead-in art to this page using this style, that would be awesome. The source coding is eluding me so far ... getting tired ... heck it's almost 4 a.m.

So for while, this is my lj's new look.

Comments/wisdom always welcome.

Hi ... no one commented yet so I thought i would.

Personally I love it. I only see white background, is that what you designed?

'whooped chick struggles for balance": It's a forever struggle, huh.

Thank you.

At first I put a muted background on this page, but it was tiling ... repeating the image as you scrolled down. That's a kink with this lj style. I need to go in there and play with the coding ... there's a css code to change this ... but time is cramped as you may understand. It's nice without the background. The second idea, which seems cleaner, would be to have a sliver of that image with full saturation at the top of the page ... give the a top, masthead ... not sure what to call it.

I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner. I used to respond (maybe too) quickly to other's posts/replies ... now it's difficult. I try to keep my friends' list small, but when I see someone's lj who seems to reasonate, I have to add them ... like yours.

Not everyone is patient. Probably b/c they knew me to reply so quickly in the past. Or they're bored. There's been a lot of angst in the past couple of years.

I'd like to get to know you better. :)
