mr. f's birthday painting

So much to share ... but so little time to write it down ... and much of it would bore you ... anyway ...

Shared this thought with an lj friend:

Mr. F saw it, and I asked him for his critical input ... he is the great critic, but can't always do it with me. He gave some good pointers ... being the purist that he is ... and I made some changes. It's still essentially the same painting, just fits more within the expressionist movement.

The darned thing is still wet in areas ... some colors dry faster than others.

I don't use traditional oil paints. I use Grumbacher’s MAX water-based oil paints. They have some oil in them, but there is no odor, the paints dry faster, the colors are far more vibrant (yip!) and brushes and other stuff can be cleaned with your basic soap and water.

All very wonderful features.

Since painting this piece for Mr. F, I've been wanting to paint more ... there are many unfinished pieces I have collecting dust or taking up floor space stacked together leaning against walls.

And there are new ideas.

It seems like the only place I have motivation to paint is at work. And it can only be done after hours or if it's really slow.

So will have to keep my supplies there.

Yes. I should bring the digital camera to work and take a photo of the painting. But it would look much nicer scanned in.

Maybe I'll bring the camera to work.

Not used to posting images ... am new to this whole lj client world ... you may have read this in a recent post ...

eh, it's more that i'm lazy ... took photos of the portrait yesterday, now have to pick one, image it nicely, ftp it then get to show up here.

many of you ... like you m' ... are quite adept at loading images to your ljs with such speed and ease. i'm not sure if it's your lj client that's such a big help and/or your adeptness at such tasks.
