great, My Hero, Barney Fife (or whatever his last name was on "The Andy Griffith Show."

I believe others have a really simply way of getting photos onto the ljs.

I have to download my from iPhoto, edit it, crop it, size it appropriately, image it if necessary, save it in web-friendly mode, log onto my server, save the danged photo there and then come back here and remember what i named it and where it is so that it links properly.

Is that what you do with photos you take yourself?

Downloading takes away at least the iPhoto option.

The full process
For photos I take myself, I:
move the memory card from my camera to the compact flash card reader drive thingie attached to my usb port, mount the flash card as a removable drive, copy the files over, crop/resize it in the gimp, my roommate's cat is pawing at my back as I type this, upload it somewhere accessible from the web (which is onigami.net, at the moment, otherwise my webserver mervyn, but that won't work from this apartment), then type <img src="url">.

All of this just takes a minute or two, when my computer isn't on the fritz.

Re: The full process
Well, I could automate all of that but the cropping (which pretty much needs human eyes to pick out the relevant part) pretty easily, I just haven't felt like it. I guess I don't take that many pictures.

Re: The full process

Re: The full process
But it seems like the actual process of converting the file to a web-friendly format, uploading it to your image hosting, and then getting the final link could be automated easily, just not the cropping and such. Essentially, just an "upload" button.

Re: The full process
True, true.

I was thinking something could be automated ... but wasn't really working really hard to figure out what those tasks would be.

this whole entry has been put in my memories queue for a reason ... and you have added another!

thank you!
