The this and the that ...

Here's a letter to a friend:

Dear Ms. S,

Hey, I've been sick since arriving back from Indiana. It's a respiratory thing, which I'm guessing I got either in Indiana or on the airplane. :(
It's been kicking my butt. Yesterday and the day before I was feeling better, but today I'm feeling yucky again. Even so, I went to this NMJW vocal class that started last week. It's a great class. Though should I have gone? Should I have stayed home? Am I going to feel worse? Who knows.

Last weekend I had no voice and couldn't do that TV show or a similar-type presentation on Sunday at the Solar Fiesta. It was very frustrating. Didn't matter about the TV show. I couldn't find the right place where the TV show was taping anyway. [During the little bit of organizing] no one ever said the call letters or what channel number of the station. It was all assumed everyone knew. Even I assumed I knew. Months ago when we were first talking about the idea, the organizer said "public access." I had "Public TV" stuck in my head and drove to KNME-4. The show was at Channel 27, I think. Heck I don't have a TV, so I don't know. Only [channels] 13 and 4. Your relative works at 13. Channel 4's offices are down the street from where I live. Anyway, the organizer doesn't have a cell phone. Only a pager. [On the day of the taping] he got my pages, but for some reason when he called me back, I didn't get his calls. Even though I felt like doggie doo-doo, I did my make-up as you suggested and fancified my hair. Wore a bright solid-colored blouse, too. It felt good to go through the motions of attempting to do the show, even though my voice was gone and later couldn't find the darned place.

Reading this book, The Help, is great. I feel like I'm subconsciously taking on the style of Stockett's writing. Does that ever happen to you?

Here's a confession: Except for the past couple of days, I haven't written anything since the first week I was in Indiana. Yeow. I've been bringing the chapters needing editing with me everywhere with the intent of writing, but nothing. I got a good start on re-writing the next part of the road trip. One thing I'm struggling with is splicing those two characters together ...  This splicing affects other characters. But I just have to do it.

Anyway, I have an internet connection at home now! It's a neat device, which is way cheaper than what Mr F and I had for two and a half years. Though now Mr F has no internet connection out in the middle of nowhere. It was his decision to get rid of it a couple of months ago.

It's getting late. I can't wait to hear about your trip!
